5 Desserts to Make on the Grill

In some parts of the world, people take for granted the luxury of grilling year-round. Here in New England, there's no way you'll find us outside in the middle of January flipping burgers - no matter how delicious they are. Maybe that's why during the summer months, we try to put our grills and patios to good use by finding ways to grill every part of every meal - including dessert!

Call us crazy, but these are 5 delicious grilled desserts you're going to want to try (no matter how many months out of the year you're outside grilling):

  1. Pineapple with Ice Cream
This couldn't be simpler or more delicious. Just take round (and cored) pineapple slices and put them onto the grill for a few minutes, or until golden brown. Top with vanilla ice cream.
  2. Pound Cake
You can have your cake and grill it too! To prevent the cake from sticking to the grill, brush the sides with melted butter and place on the rack over medium-low heat. Grill for a few minutes per side and top with fruit sauce, yogurt, ice cream, or berries.
  3. Blueberry Cobbler
Classic blueberry cobbler on the grill? You bet. Take a look at this recipe for more details.
  4. Ice cream
It may sound impossible, but grilling ice cream is certainly a can-do. Scoop out 2-inch balls of your favorite flavor and place them in the freezer for a few hours. Coat them in egg batter and roll them in shredded coconut. Repeat this process three times, then place a metal skewer through the ice cream balls. Place them once again back in the freezer, until solid. After, grill them for 1-2 minutes on each side, or until the coconut is browned.
  5. Grilled S'mores
In foil, place some classic s'mores (graham cracker, marshmallow, chocolate, graham cracker). Grill until the chocolate and marshmallows start to melt, then dig in.
