Strawberry Cheesecake Smoothie Recipe

Makes about 2 smoothies

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh or frozen strawberries, sliced

4 tablespoons strawberry Greek yogurt

1 tablespoon low fat cream cheese

½ cup low fat milk

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

1 teaspoon granulated sugar, optional

Ice, as needed

Instructions:

Add strawberries, Greek yogurt, cream cheese, milk, and vanilla extract to blender. Pulse until smooth and creamy. If you want your smoothie to be a little thicker, add ice cubes one at a time until desired thickness is achieved. Pour into glasses and garnish with a fresh strawberry.

If you can find cheesecake-flavored yogurt, omit the strawberry flavored Greek yogurt and cream cheese and use five tablespoons of the cheesecake yogurt instead. For a decadent treat, omit the cream cheese and use a tablespoon or two of vanilla ice cream, instead.

Variations:

Blueberry Cheesecake Smoothie. Follow the recipe listed above but use blueberries instead of strawberries. Substitute blueberry yogurt for the strawberry yogurt. If you can find frozen blueberries, omit the ice.

Banana Cheesecake Smoothie. Follow the recipe listed above, but omit the strawberries and use one banana instead. Use plain Greek yogurt instead of strawberry Greek yogurt and use two tablespoons low fat cream cheese instead of one.

Tropical Cheesecake Smoothie. Use a medley of tropical fruits such as pineapple, papaya, and mango for this smoothie. Use coconut milk instead of regular milk. Substitute the strawberry yogurt for coconut or banana-flavored yogurt. Follow the rest of the recipe as directed above. Garnish with coconut flakes and whipped cream.

Piña Colada Cheesecake Smoothie. Follow the recipe listed above. Use one cup of pineapple chunks instead of the strawberries. Substitute coconut milk for the regular milk. Garnish with a wedge of fresh pineapple.

Classic Cheesecake Smoothie. Classic cheesecake doesn’t use any fruit or flavor additives besides vanilla extract and is typically topped with whipped cream. To make a smoothie like this, blend together one cup of milk, two small containers of cheesecake flavored yogurt, and one teaspoon of vanilla extract with enough ice cubes to make it creamy. Pour into glasses and garnish with whipped cream.

Key Lime Cheesecake Smoothie. Prepare the classic cheesecake smoothie recipe listed above. Use ½ teaspoon vanilla extract instead of 1 teaspoon and add two tablespoons of fresh-squeezed lime juice. Pour into serving glasses and garnish with a lime wedge. If you can find Key Lime flavored cheesecake yogurt, omit the lime juice and use the flavored yogurt instead of the cheesecake flavored yogurt.

Protein-Cheesecake Smoothie. Follow any of the cheesecake smoothie recipes listed above. Add a scoop of vanilla protein powder just before blending to give your frozen treat an extra boost of protein.
